A groundbreaking force in the industry, Neema has directed over 75 hours of television, 10 television movies and 3 theatrically released feature films: Civil Brand, Woman Thou Art Loosed on the 7th Day, and Spirit Lost. She is an EMMY Award, Peabody and NAACP winner, and a DGA Directing Award Nominee. Some of the notable people Ms. Barnette has worked with: Ava DuVernay on “Queen Sugar”, Brian Grazer, Whoopie Goldberg, Josh Hartlett, Regina King, Oprah Winfrey and Gloria Steinem.
She also serves as the curator of Black History Mini Docs (BHMD)—a collection of short documentaries 90 seconds in length, designed to deliver concise, engaging insights into pivotal figures and defining moments in Black history.
