The Queens of Animation: The Untold Story of the Women Who Transformed the World of Disney and Made Cinematic History.
The book is about :
The women profiled are not the women who worked in “Paint and Ink,” but rather those that Disney hired in his story department. They developed many of the characters and stories, storyboarded the films, and created concept art for the animators. I think a lot of people will be surprised to learn of some of their contributions to the classic Disney films. And I had fun while reading the book imagining all of this going on just a few blocks from us….Walt Disney slowing down his car on Buena Vista and stopping to give someone a ride on the way in to work, and so on. I think this could be a pretty fun event. Nat will give an illustrated talk, and like all our events its free and we have plenty of free parking. I’ll also have the book on the day of its release at a good price. I included also a picture of a display I have up on Disney’s first female animator Retta Scott. She was also the first woman to receive a screen credit as an animator.
Nathalia will talk for about 45 minutes and give an illustrated talk with PowerPoint. We'll have copies of the book available at a good price and she will sign after the talk. The event is free to the public.
