"Seiva Bruta / Under the Heavens" is a short about the pain of abandonment, and how the current political crisis in Venezuela has strongly impacted the structure and stability of Venezuelan families. It follows the story of a Venezuelan mother whose ability to breastfeed causes her fate to be forever intertwined with a young mother and her baby, while immigrating to Brazil to find work to support their families.
In Spanish and Portuguese with English subtitles.

This powerful drama is currently shortlisted for the 2022 Oscar in the Best Live Action short category, and it has had an impressive festival run: Telluride, Miami Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, Brooklyn Film Festival, and won the DGA Award for Best Latino Student Film.
