What happens when an incident is reported?

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ("Title IX") prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. This prohibition includes the exclusion form participation, or denial of the benefits of, a federally funded education program or activity on the basis of sex. Sexual harassment, which includes sexual violence, is a form of sex discrimination.

New York Film Academy is committed to complying with Title IX and enforcing institutional policies prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex. Designated individuals at the NY, LA, and SB campuses serve as Title IX Coordinators who are responsible for carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities of enforcing NYFA’s Sex-based Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policy, which includes coordination of training, education, and the communications and administration of grievance procedures by assisting the complainant in identifying the appropriate NYFA policy and personnel to help resolve the complaint in a prompt and equitable manner.

New York Film Academy’s policy define the behaviors that constitute prohibited conduct and provides informal and formal procedures for filing a complaint.

Complainants and Respondents are afforded certain rights specified in the Sex-based Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policy. Where immediate assistance is required, emergency help is available at off campus locations. In addition to filing a formal complainant with the institution, Complainants have the option to report the incident to the appropriate local authorities and the Title IX Coordinator will assist them in doing so.

For more information on reporting options and resources related to your campus, please see below.
