The NYFA Q&A-List (Moderated and Curated by Tova Laiter) Welcomes The Producers of Military Docuseries "Ten Weeks"

New York Film Academy, in collaboration with We Are The Mighty (WATM), presents a live Q&A with Executive Vice President of Gunpowder & Sky David Gale, Medal of Honor recipient & Head of NYFA Veteran Advancement Program Col. Jack Jacobs, and WATM Chief Content Officer Chase Millsap. The Q&A will be a discussion about the making of TEN WEEKS, a docuseries that follows a cohort of recruits in their journey from untested, young adults into soldiers for the first time in over two decades.

 

David Gale

Executive Vice President of Gunpowder & Sky

David Gale is an executive and award-winning producer who is currently serving as Exec. VP Development and Production at Gunpowder & Sky. Before joining G&S, Gale co-founded and was CEO of We Are The Mighty, a media brand focused on hiring and telling the stories of our military veterans. 

 

In 1995, Gale ran MTV Films, where he oversaw the release of 28 films, that grossed more than a billion dollars box office and opened seven movies to #1 in their first weekends. including Varsity Blues, Original Kings of Comedy, Save The Last Dance, Coach Carter, and The Longest Yard. The division also released Academy Award-nominated movies and Sundance winners such as Election, Hustle and Flow, Justin Lin's Better Luck Tomorrow, and the cultural phenomenon Napoleon Dynamite. Gale’s other professional highlights include President of legendary producer Gale Anne Hurd’s production company, EVP of company, and VP of business affairs at a top talent agency, ICM. 

 

 

Chase Millsap

We Are The Mighty CCO

Chase Millsap is a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army Special Forces. He recently produced the short film, The Captain’s Story, in collaboration with National Geographic to highlight the struggles faced by America’s wartime allies. His written works have been published by the Columbia (SIPA) Journal of International Affairs, National Geographic, and The Huffington Post. Millsap has appeared on CNN international and Buzzfeed. Chase is the Chief Content Officer at We Are the Mighty, a media and production company for the military and veterans community. Since joining WATM, Chase has used his creative producing experience matched with his military knowledge to take the creative lead on digital, social, and film/tv projects for clients such as Warner Brothers Studios, CBS Studios, Netflix, and Blumhouse Productions.

 

 

Col. Jack Jacobs

 

Medal of Honor recipient & Chair of NYFA’s Veteran Advancement Program

Col. Jack Jacobs holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Rutgers University and entered the U.S. Army in 1966 as a Second Lieutenant through the ROTC program. A member of the faculty of the US Military Academy, Jacobs taught international relations and comparative politics, and he was a member of the faculty of the National War College in Washington, DC.

 

He was in Vietnam twice, both times as an advisor to Vietnamese infantry

battalions, earning three Bronze Stars, two Silver Stars, and the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest combat decoration. Jacobs is currently the Chair of the Veterans Advancement Program at the New York Film Academy, a Senior Fellow at the US Military Academy, and Distinguished Visiting Professor at Rutgers University. He is an on-air analyst for NBC News, and he is also the co-author of the memoir, If Not Now, When?, published by Penguin and winner of the Colby Award. His second work of nonfiction is Basic, released by St. Martin’s Press in 2012.
