Domestic and dating violence affects more than 12 million people each year. It can happen to anyone, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, income, or other factors. Physical violence is often accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior as part of a much larger, systematic pattern of dominance and control. Domestic violence can result in physical injury, psychological trauma, and even death. The devastating consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and last a lifetime.
If you, or someone you know, is a victim of domestic or dating violence, call 1-800-779-7723. If it is an emergency, dial 911.
