IMPORTANT - Action Required - Holiday Travel

November 2, 2020

Dear Students,

With the holiday season fast approaching, we feel it is important to review with you NYFA’s Travel Guidelines and recommendations.

NYFA strongly discourages all nonessential travel for the duration of fall semester. This includes a strong recommendation not to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday or December holiday break. While we understand this may be disappointing or difficult for some, we must do all we can to protect ourselves, each other and our community.

Students who MUST travel during fall semester, while classes are in session or during Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks, to areas outside of the New York metropolitan region, out-of-state or international locations, are encouraged to consult the CDC Travel AdvisoryTable of Global Policies, and the New York State COVID-19 Advisory before finalizing plans. Students returning from travel during fall semester will be required to self-quarantine before participating in in-person NYFA classes and activities.* Therefore, travel during the Thanksgiving break will require that you attend classes remotely for two weeks after the day you return to your campus region, and you will not be able to participate in any in person activities, including production, during the 14-day quarantine.

To safeguard our community, NYFA requires that you complete the Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Plans Form. Please complete this form no later than 5pm, Friday November 21st.

An additional form for the December holiday break will be sent to you following the Thanksgiving break.

*Please note that all NYFA students residing at St. George Residence will be expected to adhere to the EHS Quarantine Policy and may be required to quarantine in the dorm room for 14 days.

If you have any questions, please contact a COVID Team Administrator at covidteamny@nyfa.edu.
