New York Film Academy
Dear NYFA Community,

As you are aware, Los Angeles County recently revised its public health order to strongly recommend, but no longer require, both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals to wear masks indoors. At that time, NYFA decided to take a cautious and measured approach, keeping our masking policy while relaxing some of its restrictions. As the metrics continue to improve and the population is becoming more comfortable with the removal of the mandate, we are adjusting our policy. NYFA is now ready to announce that as of April 4th, we will remove the mask mandate indoors for classes and most school-related activities. Please know that this decision is also in consideration of the high percentage of our community that is up to date on their vaccinations (96%). We will still continue our testing protocols and using our daily symptom tracker, and all cleaning protocols to mitigate the risk of spread of Covid-19.

Also, please rest assured that if we see factors that lead to an increased risk and concern we will revisit this decision. We understand that this is a fluid situation and we are ready to pivot our policies as needed.

There may be some larger events or gatherings that will require masks, but the community will be notified if and when those occur. Individual policies may not be set by departments or faculty. For any activity on campus, every individual is welcome to continue wearing masks if they wish. We are only removing the mandate, not your choice to wear a mask. Please also remember that you must respect the choices of all others. Some may choose to continue wearing their masks, and others may choose not to. All of these choices must be respected.

If you have any questions, please contact the Los Angeles COVID-19 Admin Team at covidteamla@nyfa.edu.

Sincerely,

Dan Mackler
Dean of NYFA Los Angeles
