Terry Tsiolis (b. 1969 Montreal, Canada; lives and works in NYC) is a photographer whose subjects range from the famous, to the familial, to the everyday passerby on the street. Best known for his fashion photography, Tsiolis has worked extensively with publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vanity Fair and is widely recognized for his photographs of musicians and actors including Rihanna, Sam Smith, Jennifer Lawrence, Keira Knightley, and Jane Fonda. His clients include luxury brands such as Gucci, Burberry, Tom Ford, and Estee Lauder. Tsiolis encompasses the conventional and the avant-garde, where masked faces emerge from a monochrome background, figures' bodies become the ground for abstract paintings, and geometric blocks are superimposed over traditional portraits.
In 2016, Tsiolis began to move away from high-production editorial work towards a more intimate photographer / subject setting. The resulting series, titled Portraits, is composed of still photographs and short videos that focus on everyday people from all walks of life and disparate regions around the globe.
