New York Film Academy

Dear NYFA Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Throughout the pandemic NYFA has closely followed the changing conditions and recommendations of government and public health authorities and developed sensible safety protocols to keep our community safe. We continue to prioritize the health of our community while offering the most robust learning experience possible.

The federal government recently announced it will end the public health emergency and national emergency declarations on May 11, 2023. In light of this announcement and changing practices throughout the country, NYFA will not be requiring COVID-19 vaccination or boosting for students, faculty, or staff starting the end of this semester, April 22nd. Nevertheless, we continue to strongly recommend vaccination and up to date boosting (for those eligible) which reduce severe illness and mortality from COVID-19. Well fitted N-95 type masks remain the best protection for individuals from getting infected and we strongly recommend masking when practicable in group settings. As we continue to monitor rates of infection and advances in medicine, we may reimpose mandatory vaccination, boosting, and or masking, or other safety measures if we determine it is necessary to safeguard the health of our community.

I want to thank all in our community for working together throughout the pandemic to reduce the risk of COVID on our campuses and for supporting each other in these challenging last few years.

Take Care,

Michael Young
