Strategic Planning Frameworks
The SPC’s work is guided by two major frameworks. The first is A Practical Guide to Strategic Planning in Higher Education by the Society for College and University Planning (see Figure 3 below).
The second framework is from Jim Collins, a former research and teaching faculty at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and author. The Hedgehog Concept from Collins’ Good to Great book outlines a venn diagram, which defines the intersection of 1) what a company and its employees are deeply passionate about, 2) what they can be the best in the world at, and 3) what drives the financial and resource engine as key to any company’s success.
With both frameworks the goal is to intertwine strong planning practices within higher education and the business sector to achieve our goals and maintain financial viability.
