NYFA COVID-19 Testing Protocol & Requirements
NYFA has established a COVID-19 Testing protocol to minimize and monitor the spread of COVID-19 within our community, as well as to safeguard our community’s health and safety.
Students and employees are required to get tested for COVID-19 when noted below. Please refer to individual campus guidelines for any additional campus-specific protocols.
At the start of a new semester and before the first day attending an
in-person class or activity
When participating in NYFA productions: testing protocols for productions and production workshops vary and are specific to each campus.
When experiencing symptoms post-exposure to COVID-19
This protocol is based on current information and guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), medical publications, and NYFA’s public health consultant, Dr. Peter Bloland. This protocol will be reviewed and revised as new information emerges and public health directives are updated.

PRE-ENTRY TESTING:
All students and employees, regardless of vaccination status, are strongly encouraged to self administer a FDA approved Rapid Antigen COVID-19 diagnostic test within 48 hours prior to the first day of campus entry (to attend either Orientation events or the first day of class/employment).
If you test positive for COVID-19, please stay home, self-isolate and contact your campus COVID-19 Team Administrator* for support and guidance.
If you experience COVID-19 symptoms on the days before the start of your program, please contact your COVID-19 Team Administrator*; you will be directed to get a RT-PCR test (per the symptom testing protocol) and you will be asked to submit a negative test result to gain campus entry.

TESTING FOR PRODUCTIONS AND PRODUCTION WORKSHOPS
For information on testing requirements for production and production workshops, please refer to guidelines distributed by your campus administrators and your department chairs.
For general guidelines on COVID-19 testing protocols and other health and safety precautions specific to NYFA physical productions, please read the COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines for NYFA Physical Productions, included in the NYFA COVID Safety Plan.
SYMPTOM TESTING:
Students/employees are also required to get a RT-PCR COVID-19 diagnostic test if and when they feel sick and report or experience one or more COVID-19 related symptoms.
It is the responsibility of the student/employee to meet the symptom testing requirement and seek off-campus testing.
If you are experiencing one or more COVID-19 related symptoms and are scheduled to attend an in-person class or activity, STAY HOME PLEASE and report your symptoms immediately to the NYFA COVID-19 Symptom Tracker. If you are feeling sick and are not scheduled to attend an in-person class or activity, please report your symptoms to your COVID-19 Team Administrator via email or do so using the NYFA COVID-19 Symptom Tracker.
At this time, no one is excused from symptom testing, including students/employees who have been fully or partially vaccinated. Students/employees who report or experience COVID-19 related symptoms who have tested positive for COVID-19 within 90 days will be required to seek medical consultation or get tested, especially if their symptoms are new and unexplained. Your COVID-19 Administrator will provide guidance.
Students/employees who report or experience one or more COVID-19 related symptoms will be required to self-isolate.
If you report or experience one or more COVID-19 related symptoms, you will only be permitted to enter campus and/or participate in in-person class or activities once you submit to your COVID-19 Team Administrator a COVID-19 RT-PCR diagnostic test report indicating negative findings. Your COVID-19 Team Administrator will advise you on when it is safe to return to campus and participate in a NYFA in-person class or activity.
Please know that negative results from a Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test will not be accepted to gain entry to campus or any in-person class or activity after having had one or more COVID-19 related symptoms. Only negative results from a RT-PCR COVID-19 diagnostic test will meet requirements for ending isolation and resuming participation in NYFA in-person classes or activities.
